Introduction

The global market size for the Creative Industry is over US$2.2 trillion annually and currently contributes 1% to 2% to Malaysia’s GDP. The prospects for growth is phenomenal as the 4th Industrial Revolution will create numerous new business and job opportunities. To support Malaysia’s agenda to create a dynamic digital and cultural economy, KRU Academy was established is to seed and inculcate creativity and innovation amongst the young minds.

Anugerah Kreatif KRU Academy (AKKA) originally designed for KRU Academy’s final year students, has now evolved into a privately organized national event open to learners at pre-schools, primary and secondary schools in Malaysia.

Objectives

  2. To celebrate creativity by giving teenagers and children their due recognition
  3. To nurture young talents for career prospects in the creative industry and support Malaysia’s digital and cultural economy

Eligibility

  1. Open to all Malaysian students age between 4 to 17 years old (on the date of submission) from any school registered in Malaysia
  2. Nomination of creative works must be sent digitally in MP4 (for Best Animation category) and JPEG format (for all other categories) together with contest submission form through www.kruacademy.edu.my/akka/submission-form to be submitted with consent by parent or guardian.

Rules & Regulations

  1. Entry to competition commences on 17th August 2018 and ends on 30th September 2018
  2. Nomination of creative materials must be based on the character designs featured in “Wheely”. For more information about Wheely, please refer to www.wheelythemovie.com
  3. Entries must be in either Bahasa Malaysia or English for narrated categories.
  4. Entries must use the music tracks available for the competition if music background is used. Entries must not violate any copyrighted music other than the music tracks made available for the competition.
  5. Nomination is limited to 1 submission per person only
  6. Nomination of creative materials must be produced by the contestants themselves and no assistance from family member(s), peer(s) or any third party is allowed.
  7. The jury reserves the right to audit the authenticity of the nomination whether in person or electronically.
  8. Any family member related to KRU Academy directors and personnel is not allowed to enter this competition.
  9. The jury reserves the right to amend and/or add the rules and regulations from time to time provided always such alteration is published through KRU Academy’s social media platforms and website before the closing date of the competition.
  10. The jury reserves the right to reject any nomination for any breach of the terms and conditions stated herein. The jury’s decision is final and cannot be appealed or disputed for whatsoever reason.

BEST CREATIVE CONTENT CATEGORY

  • 8 Dialogue Panels. Total words not less than 10 words and not more than 20 words per panel
  • English or Malay language
  • Both Hand Drawn or Digitally Produced content are accepted
  • 8 Panels of Colored Comic Strip
  • Visual Theme : Comedy or Action or Both
  • A4 Size (Portrait Orientation) for every 4 Panels
  • File format in .JPEG

BEST STORY TELLING CATEGORY

  • 8 Dialogue Panels. Total words of not less than 10 words and not more than 20 words per panel
  • English or Malay language
  • Both Hand Written or Digitally Typed Script are accepted
  • Visual Theme : Comedy or Action or Both
  • File format in .JPEG

BEST DRAWING & ILLUSTRATION CATEGORY

  • Colored Drawing
  • Both Hand Colored or Digitally Produced content are accepted

BEST COLORING CATEGORY

Judging Criteria

  1. All entries will be judged by a panel of judges to be appointed by KRU Academy.
  2. The judges will evaluate the entries based on a criteria rubric drafted for each category of the competition.
  3. A score sheet will be provided to each judge and each one shall view each entry and write the score on the judging form.
  4. The AKKA Chief Jury will tally the scores based from the score sheet signed and submitted by each judge for each category. The entry with the highest score will receive the award for that category.
  5. Should there be a tie in any of the categories, the judges will view anew the tied submission and score them accordingly. The Chief Jury shall decide on how to break the tie.
  6. The Judges may decline to give an award in a particular category if no entry meets the competition’s standard of quality.
  7. Categories with fewer than 3 submissions may not be eligible for awards.
  8. If there is no submission in any category, the Judges reserve the right to delete the particular category from the awards list.
  9. The Judges reserve the right to create a special award if the situation and the entry merits it.
  10. All results will be audited by KRU Academy’s internal auditing team.

Copyright

  1. All entries shall become the property of the organizer.
  2. The organizer reserves the right to publish, produce, distribute, edit and display any entry on website(s), social media platforms, exhibitions and/or any other media platforms for promotional use only.
  3. All creators for entries used for promotional purposes will be credited accordingly.
